Conquest Racing experienced a full roller coaster of a weekend at the previous round at Circuit of the Americas, and now have their sights set on an action-packed week ahead at Virginia International Raceway. The Alton-based track is the host of the fourth round of the GT4 America Championship, which will set the scene for the halfway point of the season. Michai Stephens and Jesse Webb are currently sitting second in the standings with the #34 JMF Motorsports | Farrow Mercedes-AMG GT4, just a mere two points away from the top spot on the leaderboard.
The team has seen a great deal of success at the track in the past, as they stepped on the podium in both races in 2022, with a second-place finish in Race 1 before going on to take home the win in Race 2, in addition to setting the fastest lap of the race. The 3.27 mile, 17-turn circuit is a high speed, exhilarating, and challenging ride from start to finish, and will surely serve up some exciting battles.
“We were very pleased to walk away from COTA with a podium, but the full outcome of the weekend did not reflect this team’s true performance,” said Michai Stephens. “The championship title fight is closer than ever and we are still fighting neck and neck to make sure we are standing on the top step by the end of the season. We know how to overcome tough moments, and we’ll be coming to Virginia International Raceway with the goal of putting together two consistent and strong race results. We’re approaching the halfway point, and the work is far from over! I love racing at VIR, and I’m confident that we can replicate our results from last year.”
“It was a shame to have lost out on another potential podium result in the second race in Texas,” agreed Jesse Webb, recalling the accident between the #34 Mercedes-AMG GT4 and a competitor that resulted in Conquest Racing losing the Championship lead. “This championship is extremely competitive, and we know that every point matters. The Conquest Racing and JMF Motorsports team have done a phenomenal job making sure that we are consistently at the pointier end of the field, and we are still in the hunt for the top spot. I’m excited to be heading to VIR, it’s a proper old school track and very fast-paced, and I think we have some great potential to capitalize on opportunities here.”
“I am tremendously proud of Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens,” said John Farrow, JMF Motorsports Team Owner. “Conquest Racing and our drivers have done a stellar job in the first half of the season. Despite our set back at COTA, the team is determined to push forward and claim the ultimate title this season. At JMF Motorsports, our goal is to help young promising talents, such as Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens. I think our pairing is the strongest in the GT4 America field, let’s see what they can achieve at VIR and beyond.”
The forecast for the week shows hot temperatures on the horizon, with some rain potentially coming into play over the course of the weekend. As previous rounds have proved, it is best to expect the unexpected, and the team will be equipped to tackle all aspects of the Virginia climate.
The fourth round of the season will kick off on Saturday, June 17th, at 5:15 PM ET, with Race 2 taking place the following day on Sunday, June 18th, at 10:55 AM ET. Both races will be broadcast live on GT World’s YouTube channel.
