Conquest Racing is set to return to action this weekend as they travel north of the border for the next round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Manny Franco, Daniel Serra, and the crew are determined to convert their relentless execution and preparation into a strong result for the No. 34 Corsa Horizon Ferrari 296 GT3 entry.
The team is set to arrive in Canada following a challenging outing at Watkins Glen, where a string of tough on-track circumstances ultimately prevented them from capitalizing on a competitive strategy. Despite the adversity, Conquest Racing’s tactical calls kept them in contention for much of the race, demonstrating the group’s resilience and cohesion under pressure.
As the IMSA season rolls on to one of North America’s fastest and most technical road courses, the team is optimistic about building on last year’s experience at CTMP. In 2024, Conquest Racing entered the event as the lone Ferrari representative in the field, without historical data to draw from. This year, the team returns armed with valuable knowledge from last season and increased data support to strengthen their approach this upcoming weekend.
Manny Franco, who contested the event in 2024, is motivated to improve on last year’s performance: “We learned a lot last year at CTMP, and it gave us a great baseline to build from. Now, with more data and a better understanding of how the Ferrari performs here, I’m confident we can approach this event with a stronger package. The whole team has been working hard, we’ve demonstrated that we have been making the right calls in tough conditions, and I’m confident that we’ll have a strong showing in this sprint round.”
Daniel Serra, who is about to make his CTMP debut, is eager to take on the fast, flowing circuit for the first time: “I’ve heard great things about Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. It’s a track that I know many drivers enjoy because of its speed and old-school characteristics. It will be my first time there, but I’m looking forward to learning a new track and experiencing it firsthand. I’ll be doing everything I can to get up to speed quickly so we can maximize the car’s potential. We’re all motivated to deliver a clean, competitive weekend.”
“This is an important race for us because we need to raise our game,” explained Florent Peronnet, Team Manager at Conquest Racing. “There have been both positives and negatives in our results so far, and now it’s time to turn the progress we’ve made and the lessons we’ve learned into something concrete. Most importantly, we need to be ready for the kinds of challenges we’ve already faced earlier this season.”
“CTMP is a fast and technical circuit. Last year was Manny’s first time there, so he comes into this weekend with a bit more experience. For Daniel, it will be a brand new track. The standard is high, but we’ve done our homework and we’re well prepared. Strategically, our priority is to stay with the lead pack. The main objective is to put together strong sessions and turn that into a solid result, and that’s absolutely key.”
The on-track activity kicks off on Friday, July 11th, with Practice 1 at 1:55 PM ET. Practice 2 follows on Saturday morning at 10:35 AM ET, ahead of GTD Qualifying later that afternoon at 4:00 PM ET. The weekend concludes with the 2-hour, 40-minute sprint race on Sunday, July 13, scheduled to go green at 2:05 PM ET.
