What is the fondest memory of your career so far?
Winning Le Mans and finishing third in Daytona. Two of the most important races in the world and being on the podium for both of them, almost within a six-month period, was amazing.
How do you prepare for races?
I always say, “A race is like an exam in school or university. Preparation is key.” I do a lot of simulator work, especially this year, because most of the tracks are new for me. I also do a lot of training on the bicycle because it’s good for my cardio and endurance races. And, of course, you can find me in the gym. I work with my trainer to be consistently strong with my arms and neck so that I can maintain the same lap times and my body isn’t tired after three or four laps.
What are you looking forward to at Watkins Glen?
I’m looking forward to Watkins Glen because last year a Ferrari finished on the podium. It’s an extra motivation knowing we will have a good car. Our test there went really well. I can tell the team is determined. We need a good result, so the crew is very motivated to reach our goal, which is to be where we want to be—at least in the top five or top three. The team has been working very hard, especially in the tests; we will fight for the win.
Where are you from, and where do you live now?
I am from Barcelona, Spain. I moved to Andorra four years ago, and now I live in the mountains.
What are your hobbies?
I am a driver with many hobbies. One of them is skiing. My main hobbies are cycling—road cycling and mountain biking. I try to do as much as I can every week. It all doubles as part of race preparation, so it’s good for me.
What is your favorite meal?
This is a difficult question! Before, it was pizza, and now I think it’s Mexican food. I no longer live in Barcelona, so I miss having paella. It’s a little bit difficult to pinpoint my favorite meal, but I would say my top three foods are pizza, paella, and Mexican food.
